AVINT R&D Project has been finished

The completion of the AVINT research project, planned for a duration of 36 months from 2018, but extended due to the state of alarm due to the health crisis situation caused by COVID-19, has been completed.

AVINT is a project of the Future Industries Community (IdF) of RIS3CAT with the participation of Industrias TEIXIDÓ, Mecanitzats PRIVAT, GUTMAR, FLUBETECH, IMCAR TOOLS, FUCHS LUBRICANTES, the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, the International Center for Numerical Methods in Engineering ( CIMNE) and EURECAT.

The main objective of the AVINT project has been to increase the efficiency and competitiveness of the processes by producing parts with optimal surface roughness and integrity, predicting the roughness before the production of the parts and acting in the design phase, before its production, thus avoiding the generation of defective parts.More specifically, the basic objectives have been the following:

  • Increased efficiency of machining processes by increasing surface quality and reducing defective parts through the development of an application to predict roughness.
  • Increasing efficiency of machining processes through innovation in machining strategies that optimize surface integrity. Advanced machining strategies will focus on the selection of optimal process parameters, optimization of tools (geometry, materials and coatings) and optimization of lubricants/coolants to machine different component materials.
  • Increasing the competitiveness of machining processes to obtain parts with greater added value, allowing in this way to enter productive sectors of lower volume / short series or to access more specialized productive sectors.
